LOVE for Analogue / custom sticker made of washi tape!

A lot of our Baum-kuchen friends have told us that they have a pretty extensive collection of washi tapes that are waiting to be utilized. But they tend to sit on the table for a long (looooong) time... so I asked Eunice what are some fun ways of using these tapes.

The answer: Why not make custom shape stickers?

We shared little bit about this technique when we featured DIY custom tags during the holidays. I was so thrilled to learn this handy method and wanted to put together another post to share more images with you and the way to apply the technique in the real project.

Eunice showed us how to turn a simple card stock into a charming custom postcard. I hope you enjoy scrolling down the images. You can mix and match some interesting color themes from washi tapes when you are using this technique (the color combination I never thought of:) and as long as you use a slick paper surface (Eunice recommends kitchen wax sheet), you can easily peel off your custom washi tape stickers.

LOVE for Analogue / Create festive details!

I hope you are embracing the holiday spirit! I will be wrapping special gifts for Satchi and Coco this week and was wondering what would be creative ways to add a personal touch to the gifts... so we asked Eunice if she could share some thoughts on how to craft festive and personal gift tags. I loved that she started it with simple tags that can be found at any office supply stores... and added layers of accents using masking tapes and few of our favorite analogue goodies.

How awesome would it be to have personal tags like this on your gift this year?? I know for sure that our girls will feel extra excited to see these happy tags (and their wrapped gifts) for next 10 days... under our Christmas tree.

List of artifacts used in this project:

1. Layer washi tapes to create custom stickers
Did you know that you can layer washi tapes on a parchment sheet to cut out any shape possible? Eunice showed us how she made Christmas stocking and tree by mixing and matching washi tapes that were available at the studio. When you cut out the shape and peel the tapes off, there is always the wow factor. I showed the technique to the girls at home this weekend and they LOVED it!

2. Gift tag pocket
Gift tags can work twice as hard. It's a gift tag pocket! Simply cut out a piece of paper with a shape that compliments your gift tag to make a pocket (on this example, a little diagonal pocket). Then layer washi tapes on the pocket to create a beautiful accent on the tags. Insert your little note and you are done:) For extra festiveness, we added wax seal and Classiky hole sticker in blue tone!

3. Gold accent
We are adoring mt masking tape in gold leaf and gold particle so much! A hint of screen printed gold details add so much brightness to any surface we use the tapes for. Eunice combined the tape with gold ink calligraphy type. You can use gold gel pen for the similar effect!

tapes we love!

So excited to share that our colorful masking tape page is finally up to date with all our new inventory! We are especially thrilled to have a whole new collection from Classiky (loving their muted colors and beautiful textures) as well as new mt masking tape additions including few of the "slim" tapes (available in monotone and color)! We heard a lot of request from our lovely customers to include the slim size to our collection so they can incorporate these tapes into journaling and planner pages so yes!

I hope you enjoy browsing through the page:)

LOVE for Analogue / Take a moment to send a love letter

As we slowly approach the end of year..., it's so easy to get lost in holiday shopping, dinner parties, deep cleaning of the house (we do this... in a Japanese way), and more things that need to be crossed off from our list. (oh and kids are off from school too!)

So we would LOVE to take a moment to share an idea of maybe doing totally the opposite. What if we take one quiet afternoon and instead of trying to juggle what are on our plates, slow down to write and send something special to a friend? Adding and sharing words and artifacts that inspire you at this moment.

At Baum-kuchen studio Eunice crafted a set of love letter, a mini goodie bag and a gift tag to get your creative juice going!

We love Classiky Letterpress Picture Diary because the creative format of the notepad makes it easy to put together a fun and unexpected composition. (also available with line) The newsprint quality of this paper sets a collaging atmosphere and we can pretty much put anything in these little boxes to personalize the letter. How about a little picture printed from Mini Pocket Printer, pressed flowers, few pieces from your postage collection, your favorite stickers, pieces of masking tapes, your personal mantra or quote, illustration... The possibility is endless.

If you like sharing little analogue goodies with your friend along with your letter (imagine... your favorite clips, assortment of masking tape samples, a memo card...), you can create a very personalized envelope with Classiky Glassine Envelope & Label. Labels in this set are vintage inspired so it automatically sets the beautiful vignette and we love how the envelope is slightly translucent to reveal little bit of what's inside. Glassine envelope is slick in texture so regular stamp ink will not stay on. So make sure to use a stamp pad with a permanent ink if you love adoring your envelope with your favorite stamps! We created a layering effect by overlapping masking tape and translucent washi papers with a memo written via typewriter. If you don't have an actual typewriter available to use, no worries. You can easily find a typewriter inspired font on your computer and type and print your message!

We folded the top of envelope to close and added Classiky hole seal on the punched hole to add an extra personality. Tie it with Paper Twine and it's ready to go!

We have the letter sample created by Eunice in our studio so if you are local and are looking for extra inspiration to get your creative juice going, stop by! (our opening hours are listed on this page:) You are definitely very welcome to put together your personal letter while you are in the studio using what is available on our analogue work table:)
