As we started cleaning Jiji's kitchen today, I couldn't help to feel that Jiji perhaps sent us here intensionally.
One and half years ago, he left this house in the morning to work in the field and never came home. When we arrived here two days ago, it was evident that very little has been touched nor organized since then. Food is still in the refrigerator (thank goodness that electricity was never turned off...), pots and pans are laid on the stove just the way he left them in the morning. His clothes still hang in the living room...
When we saw the condition of the house, we asked my uncle who is in charge of this property if we could volunteer to start cleaning up the place. FB and I have no control over what would happen to this house. We simply love it here because we know how much Jiji loved it and his spirit feels so strongly present in this place.
As we emptied jars, bottles, plastic containers that long expired from his refrigerator and start filling trash bags, I felt that he was there telling me that he wanted us to come here so we could start letting some of the stuff go... so he can perhaps move on. Maybe I am totally making it up in my head because that is what I would like to believe... Either way FB and I are honored to contribute to Jiji and his life by helping him tie up some of the unfinished business he left here...
everything happens for a reason...
